The block located at the boundary between leisure spaces and the Terdelt garden city, is characterized by a large open space to the west and vegetated inner courtyards with a soft layout. The project continues the intentions of the garden cities: to develop comfortable housing in interaction with its natural environment, with the garden as a binding element.
The gardens and pathways form a true shared public space for pedestrians and cyclists, complemented by private gardens. This densification of uses encourages sharing, continuous activity, and appropriation of outdoor spaces. The participatory gardens; including vegetable plots, compost areas, meeting spaces, and play areas, foster collective responsibility and strengthen social cohesion.
The intervention emphasizes resource reuse, efficient waste management, and a logic of minimal demolition. The Foucart building is restored identically, with a simple distribution of housing units, attention to accessibility, and a layout of living spaces that promotes social oversight. The single-family houses are preserved as they are, while the transformation of the Guffens buildings is carried out without altering the existing façades.
The overall organization remains clear: living spaces oriented toward private gardens, kitchens facing the street to preserve privacy, and spatial arrangements that support shared, sustainable uses rooted in their context.
